Patty Cake Taffy Pull

I was on Substack and then they announced that Nazis are welcome on their platform, so I’m back to having my very own website. Here are a few things about me.

1. I’m trying to bring creativity back into my life

This is the main reason I’ve started this newsletter. I’ve always needed a creative outlet in my life. I’ve had many over the years. Just to name a few:

  • DJ

  • Dance Instructor

  • Photographer

  • Painter

  • Designer/Web developer

I’m a big believer that creativity is something we all need to nurture. Whether you consider yourself an artist or you’re an accountant. I want to share my journey as well as what has worked for me and what hasn’t.

This leads to number two…

2. I have ADHD

I know, I know. It seems like everyone these days is talking about it. I think a big reason for that is many of us who are now middle-aged just weren’t diagnosed when we were kids.

“My ADHD was misdiagnosed as “smart but lazy”, “selfish”, “lacks effort”, “in his own world”, “too sensitive”, “messy and disorganized”, “always late”, “gets in his own way”, “doesn’t apply himself”, “overly emotional”, “a lot”, and “not living up to his potential.”

3. I’m Ex-Mormon

Yeah, I was a missionary

I was raised in the Mormon church and spent most of my life as an active member. I mention this because it still has an effect on how I process certain things. It’s also the inspiration for the title of this newsletter. I might write about all of that another time.

4. I’m a husband and I’m a father

My wife and I have five kids under one roof. Three from my previous marriage and two from hers. I think it’s important to mention this as it also tends to colour how I see the world.

Along with sharing my creative endeavours, I may also end up sharing my thoughts on leadership and technology. I’ve been in leadership roles in the tech space for well over a decade. Creativity, empathy, and overall mental wellness all have roles to play there.
