New Shoes, Same Treadmill #5
Stuff I’m doing 👨🏻💻
Last week I mentioned our basement flooded. We’ve dried everything off as best we can and we’ve had to pull up some of the carpet in the worst spots. The insurance adjuster came by and said it looks like it’s a result of the water table rising, not a leak in the walls or windows. So now we wait to hear back regarding what will be covered.
One silver lining is our new condo in West Kelowna is finished and we’ll be spending most of our summer there.
Cool Stuff I’ve read This Week 👨🏻💻📚
😖Anything could happen, at any moment (and when it does, you’ll cope)
anxiety is the feeling that something very bad might be going to happen – combined with the absence or near-absence of any real evidence to believe it actually will.
I love the above description of anxiety. It’s irrational, illogical, erratic, and baseless. I know all of these things even when I’m in the middle of an anxiety attack.
Anxiety isn’t a silly mistake about how bad things could get. It’s a logical response to what’s entailed by the human situation
Anxiety is something we ALL feel, just a different levels and frequency. For example, a regular brain might feel anxious about speaking in public while my brain shifts into overdrive when I have to send a follow up email. You know, life or death stuff.
My life so far provides zero reason to believe I’ll ever attain the degree of control over the future I always thought I needed. But then again, my track record of not yet having been entirely overwhelmed by existence suggests that maybe I never needed it to begin with.
Anxiety lives in the future and the only constant in all of our lives is change. I know my anxiety will never go away, it’s my ability to cope and manage it that will.
🍊Stupid-Americans are the New Irish-Americans
This is a Reddit post and it’s one of the best descriptions of why people love Trump that I have ever read. Seriously, it’s so, so good.
If written language survives the next six weeks, we’ll be writing about Donald Trump for a thousand years. But whatever else there is to say, the most important thing about Donald Trump, the thing that is obvious from watching him speak for just 14 seconds, is that he is profoundly stupid.
This is the whole thesis. Trump is stupid and it’s why some people love him. Read it.
I don’t have anything to quote for this one, I just thought it was a well thought out resource for people with ADHD.
